


Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) was established on December 20, 1999 under the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, which gives it characteristics favorable to business at an international level. It is located on the southern coast of the People's Republic of China, west of the mouth of the Pearl River, at the connection between Mainland China and the South China Sea. It is about 145 km from Guangzhou, borders the Special Economic Zone of Zhuhai and is close to Shenzhen's Special Economic Zone.
Hengqin Dao (also known as "Mountain Island") is a 96 km² island belonging to the city of Zhuhai (Mainland China). It is adjacent to the island of Taipa and the island of Coloane and is connected to the Isthmus of Cotai (Macau) by the Lotus Flower Bridge.
